Title: Snoqualmie River, 1938 aerial photos
Geospatial_Data_Presentation_Form: remote-sensing image
Description:
Abstract:
This dataset is part of a collection of historical aerial photographs of Puget Sound rivers that were orthorectified. The photos were recieved in paper format from the Army Corps of Engineers, Seattle, WA.

This image dataset was created from individual scanned aerial photos (stored in TIFF format) which were orthorectified, mosaicked, and tiled based on Washington section boundaries. Data does not necessarily fill each section completely.

Purpose:
Historical mapping of river channel migration of the Snoqualmie River in King and Snohomish County, Washington, USA.

Attribute_Accuracy_Report:
This photo set, while being too old to have camera calibration information available, had good overlap from photo to photo so the control is good.

The amX, amY, and amZ values in the Positional Accuracy section represent the average mean square error for the X, Y, and Z coordinates of the control and tie points (in meters).

Completeness_Report:
Images cover the river bottoms and some of the adjacent uplands for the Snoqualmie River from approximately RM 3 to RM 8.

Process_Description:
Black and white photographs were scanned at 600 pixels per inch and saved as TIFF files. Performed "Auto Levels" in Photoshop and used Photoshop to change all pixels of value 0,0,0 to 1,1,1 (to avoid dropout of 0,0,0 pixels when turning off display of background value 0 in ArcMap). Resulting TIFF images were then orthorectified using Leica Photogrammetry Suite (formerly ERDAS Imagine's OrthoBASE module). Registration sources were

King County Emerge 2000 natural color 2-ft pixel orthophotos (<http://www.metrokc.gov/gis/sdc/raster/ortho/OrthoFileSummaryTable.htm>),

USGS 2002 color orthos (<http://wagda.lib.washington.edu/data/type/photography/puget_sound/>),
